Abercrombie & Kent Announces a Journey of a Lifetime Photo Contest on Facebook
Picture This: Your Best Travel Photo May be Worth a Trip to Antarctica
While the old adage says a picture is worth a thousand words, Abercrombie & Kent (A&K) is upping the stakes and making it worth much more – a journey of a lifetime to Antarctica. Travellers are encouraged to submit their most inspiring and powerful travel photos on a special contest tab on Abercrombie & Kent’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/abercrombiekent by 29th January 2012 for a chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime adventure cruise to Antarctica for two, under the guidance of expert photographer, Richard Harker.
With its pristine snow and ice starkly contrasting with the sea and sky and an abundance of wildlife, Antarctica is a photographer’s dream. Abercrombie & Kent will take one lucky winner and their guest to the White Continent in comfort and style aboard the spacious MV ‘Le Boreal,’ the only all-balcony expedition ship in the region. In 14 adventure-filled days, explore shorelines teeming with penguin and seal alongside leading naturalists, go behind the scenes of an environmental research station and chat with on-board experts nightly about the day's discoveries on a program that has been described as "the one to beat for high-quality, hands-on exploration" by Conde Nast Traveler and cited for “best program” and “best shore excursions” by Cruise Reports and recommended by Fodor’s “Best Cruises.”
Accompanying the cruise is veteran photographer Richard Harker, the resident on-board photo coach for A&K’s Antarctic expeditions. Richard will provide the winner with hands-on guidance to help make every shot count on this spectacular adventure. This Antarctic journey includes twin-share accommodation, meals, all transfers, ground transport, internal air, fully-guided sightseeing, including shore excursions, and has a total value of £17,000. Photo entries will be accepted until 29th January, 2012. After the first round of entries, a panel of judges, including Jorie Butler Kent, a published photographer and Vice Chairman of Abercrombie & Kent, and Richard Harker will choose the top ten finalists. These photos will be featured on the A&K Facebook contest page from 1st to 10th February so Abercrombie & Kent’s Facebook fans can vote for the winning photo. The winning photo will be announced on 13th February, 2012.
