BABTAC INNOVATION GRANT; FINALISTS AND JUDGES REVEALED

 

Ahead of the innovation grant final in February, BABTAC announce its finalists and additional judges. Faceframe, Nuekie, Injex (Shireen) and Glow app are all in the running for the prize, while Cat Sims, Editor of Salon Geek and Sarah Vine, Beauty Journalist join the judging panel.

Judging at the event in February are Cat Sims and Sarah Vine:

  • Cat Sims is currently the Editor of Salon Geek, an online forum dedicated to professionals in the hair and beauty sector; she brings with her a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the industry, in addition to an understanding of the potential viability of the ideas.
  • Sarah Vine is an award-winning beauty journalist currently writing for the Daily Mail; she has recently launched a new column ‘Beauty Sleuth’ focusing on new and innovative beauty treatments, making her the ideal judge for these new ideas. Sarah’s work has also appeared in The Huffington Post, on GetTheGloss.com and she is the former Beauty Editor of The Times 

 BABTAC is also announcing the four chosen finalists; voted for by members of the public and industry experts, the four lucky finalists will present a persuasive ten-minute pitch live at Professional Beauty 2014 in February. They will present in front of the BABTAC innovation grant panel, in a Dragon’s Den style format. The four following finalists were chosen from 10 semi-finalists:

  • Faceframe has developed a completely new treatment, providing realistic 3D eyebrows for those who have lost their hair through medical conditions such as cancer and alopecia. The technology uses synthetic eyebrow hair that can last up to two weeks. 
  • Nuekie is an ethnic dermatology company which has developed a skincare treatment specifically designed to treat Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation disorder (PIH) in ethnic skin.
  • The Shireen Poring-Method, marketed by Shireen UK Ltd, is an innovative wrinkle treatment combining naturally occurring ingredients with its unique needle-free administration process, the PoreJet. The exclusive beauty treatment is non-invasive and practically pain-free.
  • Glow App is an iOS booking system designed to connect beauty customers directly with mobile therapists. The app is designed not only for convenience, but to facilitate advance and last minute bookings in a geographical location.

The BABTAC Innovation grant will award £8,000 to the best innovative idea for the beauty industry giving the winner a chance to get their idea developed and recognised in the beauty industry. Supported by both BeautyUK and Professional Beauty, the final will take place at Professional Beauty, London on 23rd-24th February from 2pm.
