Gloucester celebrates double success at tourism ‘Oscar' awards
Gloucester is celebrating a double success at this year's South West Tourism ‘Oscars'
marketing gloucester ltd has been shortlisted in the Tourism Event of the Year section - for this year's Tall Ships Festival.
In the same competition the city council's tourism staff have been shortlisted in the Tourist Information Service of the year category - for their outstanding customer service.
All that remains to be seen is whether they win Gold or Silver at the award ceremony next month.
Council Leader, Paul James, is also Vice Chairman of marketing gloucester ltd.
He said: "This is the most fantastic double celebration. " The Tall Ships Festival was one of the biggest and best events ever staged in the city.
Thousands of people enjoyed it and it gave Gloucester a most terrific economic boost.
Our tourism information staff provide an excellent service and this award follows on from vigorous checking which includes visits and calls from ‘secret shoppers.'
