Mark Elliot Showroom Opening

Background:

Mark Elliot is a British company specialising in the bespoke design and manufacture of high quality furniture and sofas, all made by experienced cabinet and upholstery craftsmen in the UK.

Objectives:

To re-launch Mark Elliot in the Cheltenham Town Centre with lavish lunchtime and evening events at the company’s showroom on Clarence Street, creating interest and noise, resulting in sales.

Actions:

apt has many years experience of social PR, which we put to good use for these sorts of events, using unusual and creative entertainment to capture the imagination of the press and get people talking.

From designing the invitations, managing the guest list and organising the traditional British canapés to reiterate the company’s British heritage, bubbly and live music entertainment, we also made every effort to impress on a limited budget, getting creative with the Mark Elliot fabric to make the aprons and ties modelled by the catering staff.

The theme for the event was ‘all about ME’, so the invitations (‘Meet ME’, ‘Come and join ME’) and tags attached to fabric of the aprons and ties (‘it has to be ME’, ‘Look at ME’, ‘Check ME out’) did a great job to attract attention.

We invited our database of regional businesses and individuals to attend together with targeted contacts from interior design, architecture, building and construction industries. We also invited a number of journalists and photographers from regional lifestyle magazines with a similar demographic.

Results:

The events welcomed Mark Elliot back to Cheltenham, drawing attention to what makes the company distinctive from its competitors; bespoke furniture to customer requirements and made in Britain by experienced craftsmen, through the use of British catering and bespoke tailoring of fabric for the staff uniforms.

Mark Elliot sold a number of items to guests on the day and made vital contacts for future business with key industry professionals. Cotswold Style chose to cover the event within its social pages, as well as substantial coverage in the Gloucestershire Echo, which further promoted the return of this distinctly British company to the region.
