FLYING START FOR F100 GRADUATES


Graduate Success has launched an online mentoring service for graduates to enable them to quickly and effectively make the transition from academia to the workplace.

 

Called F100 (the First 100 days), successful Graduate Success candidates are given access to the comprehensive online development tool as soon as they accept a position in writing.  The system encourages graduates to plan what they need to know and do before starting their new role.  Part of the process includes developing emotional intelligence and abilities to work alongside and manage people.

 

Graduate Success has developed the F100 programme, in partnership with realworld management, following feedback from businesses.  Simon Reichwald, Managing Director, Graduate Success comments, “Although line managers have the best intentions when recruiting graduates, planning to invest time in them and share the benefits of their wisdom and experience.  The reality of an organisation is very different and time pressures rarely allow for a productive level of mentoring.”   

 

Employers are increasingly expecting graduates to take more responsibility for their own career and development and F100 gets them to start doing this from the offset.  It builds on those behaviours and habits and shows them how to take responsibility.  It is particularly unique as it starts working, even before the graduate does.  Four to six weeks before starting their new job, the F100 programme begins to prepare them for their new role and consider aspects such as ‘what should I do to make a good impression?’ as well as thinking about their areas of concern and how they can allay those fears. 

F100 has been designed to lead the graduate’s induction process and works equally well in tandem with programmes conducted by in-house HR teams, in order to maximise the value of the new graduate’s input to the organisation. 

The unique toolkit comprises: 

·         A clearly presented 17-section online tutorial

·         Key actions for the graduate following each section

·         24 downloadable interactive forms and exercises

·         Rapid access through intuitive menu-driven screens

·         A proven programme of user-driven learning that can either be accessed sequentially, or as the need arises
