PARAGON LAUNDRY SAVES INITIAL JOBS
Cheltenham-based Paragon Laundry has announced that it has taken over ownership of a state-of-the-art Nottingham laundry, which was previously owned by Rentokil Initial plc. This follows an announcement by Rentokil Initial earlier this year in which they revealed their plans to close their loss-making UK Linen and Workwear operations. The takeover means that an estimated 70 of the 100 plus jobs based at the Nottingham site will be saved.
Managing Director of Initial Hygiene, Stephen Booth, said: 'We are delighted to have saved the majority of our staff from redundancy and are pleased that the Nottingham plant will remain an active laundry serving the needs of local businesses'.
Re-equipped just three years ago, the purpose-built laundry is geographically in an excellent position for Paragon and will provide the company with a central location for the future. The acquisition will ensure Paragon Laundry continues to be one of the largest family-run, independent, laundries in the UK and, as part of the Brilliant Laundry Group, further strengthens their position within the market sector.
David Stevens, Joint Managing Director, comments, 'We are aware that Initial had a large customer base at the Nottingham site and we very much hope that many of their customers will wish to use Paragon’s services in the future. Over the last few years we have seen steady growth in our hospitality offering. This expansion will enable us to continue our marketing penetration without the risk of overtrading.'
'We are thrilled that we will be able to save so many of the jobs at the Nottingham site and we are especially looking forward to integrating the team into Paragon.' adds Robert Stevens, Joint Managing Director. 'There is a great depth of knowledge amongst the team, who will be joining us, and we know that they will prove to be a valuable asset'
David Stevens is a spokesperson on behalf of Paragon Laundry, encompassing over 80 years of laundry expertise, and is available for interviews.
