Auction 'Promises' to raise funds for Oxjam Cheltenham Takeover

An Auction of Promises is being held at the Daffodil restaurant in Cheltenham, as the first fundraising event for the Oxjam Cheltenham Takeover. The event, supported by local businesses including Beards Jewellers, Severnside Software Limited and Davies Mayers & Partners Accountants takes place on Friday 11 July from 11.30.

Promises offered to date include a a four night stay at a game lodge in South Africa , jewellery from Beards, a unique art piece by Paul Oz and much more. Starting at 11.30 with a champagne reception, followed by a two course lunch concluding with the auction, the event provides a great opportunity for networking with fellow business leaders.

All proceeds made from the event will go towards Oxjam Cheltenham Takeover, which formulates part of Oxjam’s national Takeover; a music festival launched in 2006 to raise vital funds for the global and unrestricted efforts of Oxfam. Since its inauguration Oxjam has raised over two million pounds and aided Oxfam in providing worldwide relief to those suffering from poverty and injustice.

Fiona Stephens, event organiser from the Daffodil says ‘we have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from local businesses and we are confident that we are going to raise our £8,000 target for the charity over the four events.’

There are three more fundraising events planned over the next few months including Chelten-Jam Bake Off on 17 August, OxFeast, a celebration of food & wines from the countries that Oxfam supports in September all culminating in the 'Takeover' in October which will showcase over 50 local music acts at venues all over Cheltenham.

Tickets for the auction of promises are available at £30 per person.  For more information and tickets please contact Fiona@oxjamcheltenham.com.
