Oxjam Cheltenham Takeover the town!

The Oxjam Cheltenham Takeover returned to the town on Saturday 18 October with over 80 acts performing across 4 venues; Moo Moo, 21 club, Subtone, Frog & Fiddle as well as an outdoor stage on Ormond Place.  The event was a great success and added a real buzz to the town, whilst raising over £2,500 for Oxfam.

Oxfam has been running the national music festival since 2006 and this year the event took place in 61 towns and cities across the UK.  Amelia Roberts, Takeover Manager for Cheltenham says ‘We’ve had a phenomenal year and I’m so proud to be part of such a wonderful event.  It wouldn’t have been possible without the fantastic acts who have been so supportive in helping us to raise awareness for such a great cause and the team (made up of all local businesses) for all pulling together when we just needed to make it happen! I would also like to say a special thank you to all the venues as not only did they let us use their facilities, they each donated £250.’

George Montague, who kicked things off on the outdoor stage says ‘ The atmosphere was electric, wonderful to see so many lovely faces enjoying live music and having fun for such a great cause.’

Acts performing at the event included Elles Bailey, Kingsley Salmon, Ethemia, Emi McDade, Dexter Millest, Dan Hartland, Charlie Baxter, Temp0rary, Last Night’s Victory and the Tom Gee Band plus many more.

The team have until November to collect all of their takings for 2014 and still have a few more initiatives to come including a Halloween event and mufti day at local schools.  If you would like to donate to Cheltenham Oxjam and ensure that we remain the top of the national leader board, please text JAM033 to 70066 to donate £3.  Standard terms and conditions apply.

The Takeover will return to the town in 2015; follow the team’s progress on twitter @oxjamchelts, facebook www.facebook.com/Oxjam.Cheltenham.Takeover and on the website www.oxjamcheltenham.com
