Sugarcane fibres are transformed into responsible packaging Biopac, a pioneering developer of eco-friendly yet functional packaging, has developed a new sugarcane range that is biodegradable, sustainable and compostable. Using the raw natural fibres of sugarcane, bamboo and reed, the new range offers an ethical alternative for events, catering establishments and retail chains.Sugarcane is a natural by-product of the sugar industry in South East Asia and would conventionally be discarded or burnt when no longer needed. This versatile material can be molded into all manner of shapes to suit a variety of product applications. Compliant with EN13432 (the European standard of compostability), these catering disposables can tolerate the freezer or microwave – withstanding temperatures of -25ºc to +220ºc – and won’t absorb oil or leak. Bio cane products can be embossed or debossed with company logos and text, providing an alternative to printed inks or labels. The range comprises catering disposables including burger boxes, fish and chip boxes, clamshell boxes, compartment meal boxes, plates, trays and bowls.
The products are available direct from Biopac. Call 01386 555 777 or e-mail info@biopac.co.uk. Further information is available from the new Biopac website: www.biopac.co.uk
